Oh tough call...

SO I decided to save money and get a "basic" gadget. But then Amazon threw a bundle together I couldn't refuse for the Garmin 50 with foot pod and HR monitor. So I said SELF, get that.

And I did.

But then I almost had to cancel my order, because I see that they made a Garmin FR60. And it comes in LILAC. And seriously, isnt everything prettier in color. The problem, I'd have to spend 50$ more, and lose 2 months of use (Release date of July 20th).

SO I stuck with the basic.

Had it been in PINK.......there would have been nothing to think about, 50$ be damned!

Week 6 COMPLETE

This was my first 25 minute run. Last week I completed a 20 minute run, with an average pace of 4.1, and yes I know thats slow, and I probably look like I'm crawling on the treadmill, but speed is not supposed to matter! Its about getting endurance.

Today, I was able to run the majority of the 25 minutes at 4.5. But I did have to drop down to 4.0 for a minute here and there. I did about 15 seconds at 3.5 (my walking pace) but stayed in jog form and made up for it in my last 30 seconds by going at 5.0.

Note to self. DONT eat before long runs. My stomach was not happy with me.

I had a total strength work out tonight as well. Shred must be taking its toll on my muscles though, or I guess the running could be, because my leg exercises were VERY difficult today, and I had to do them 5lbs less then normal. Arms went fine. I skipped Abs because my stomach was angry enough.

That said, I DID IT! And now, I've earned my heart rate monitor, now to decide which one I want!

Wednesdays Workout

I tried level two of the 30 day shred. Was a little nervous cause level one is hard.

Just ask Kevin! I made him do it with me on Monday. He couldn't walk yesterday. He he he. It was nice to be able to keep up with him/out do him, since he is much more athletic then I.

Anyways, loved level 2, the moves were easier for me then level one but the endurance required more. I may have snuck a drink of water or two, but dont tell Jillian! She scares me! Level 2 also made my abs feel a lot more involved then level one, which right now I REALLY need.

When I was this weight a year ago, I was a size 8. I'm no where near that right now. I'm a very fitted (not muffin top fitted, but still very snug) size 10. And its all due to my lack of ab work this go around. So I'm happy to say, I worked them good.

Gadgets

Tomorrow if I finish my run, ,a 25 minute run, I earn my heart rate monitor.

So the question is. Do I get a basic heart rate monitor or do I go all out? I would like SOMETHING to help me track distance when I decide to go outdoors.

Target has GREAT deals on the Garmin 305 right now.

The Garmin 50 package Target offers seems more practical since its also usable inside, but it lacks the GPS option.

There is also the basic heart rate montiors with the added pedometer or the Nike ipod Sports kit. The problem with that, I run with the shuffle, NOT the Nano, and if I go with the ipod piece I'd also need an arm band for my Nano. Which deafeats the whole purpose of even having the shuffle.

Sigh. Too many things to choose from.

Tuesday's Workout

I stepped it up a bit today. I spent about 20 minutes on the wii this afternoon during nap time doing planks, push ups, and jack knifes.

Then after Kev got home I headed to the gym. I'm on day 2 of week 6 in the couch to 5k. I am improving greatly. Last week on my first 20 minute straight run, I ran at 4.5-4.0 for a speed. Varied as needed. Today, I ran 10 minutes at 4.7, walked at 4.0 for 3 minutes, and ran 10 more minutes at 4.6 (5.0 for the last minute). YEAH ME!

After the treadmill, I did a full circuit of strength training (arms, legs and abs). I surprised myself on the pull downs, when I thought I put the weight at 50lbs, but after I finished I realized it had been at 70lbs! Another YEAH ME!

I ended the gym work out with 10 minutes on the elliptical and came home and did a few more ab exercises for good measure.

I think this is by far my "biggest" work out day yet.

Becoming a betty....

I need a place to keep track of my progress. To hold myself accountable. To talk to myself as needed. To pat myself on the back, or kick myself in the ass. A place to show progress and set backs. So here it is.......on my way to becoming a betty. Though I did contemplate "Making a MILF"......this just felt more appropriate. Not that I've ever cared about censoring myself before.
